Consider this.

A lot of car modification is about ruining the look of the car with cheap, poorly installed, mismatching add-ons. It’s also about at least pretending you have performance - only a fool would mod a Fiat Uno.

Stance values are different. A clean, stock body in good condition is desirable. And there’s no pretense of performance, so literally any car goes. People stance old luxury cars, economy cars, sedans, anything.

And so, in some ways stance is about taking an old car that the world doesn’t need anymore and giving it a purpose. Showcasing it. Making it cool without changing it much.

Sure it might ruin the underbits , but how much life does a car like this have left in it anyway? It’s either stanced or it’s in the bin.

I’m not saying stance shouldn’t exist, just that I personally don’t like or understand it. I get where you’re coming from though. But at the same time, I dunno...I find most stanced cars ARE in decent shape BEFORE they get stanced (especially a lot of classics) and it just hurts my brain that somebody would lower something (unless it has raiseable air suspension) to the point it would deliberately scrape on the ground constantly and is defeated by the slightest pothole, speedbump or incline change ...

I’m all for car mods and personalization...I just don’t get a genre that deliberately makes something vastly LESS capable than it originally was with the express knowledge that the bottom will probably get ripped to shreds...it’s like buying a huge SMART TV (the car), then blocking part of the screen off so it’s worse as you can’t see as much (lowering it to the point of scraping) and then also smashing the now-only-part-you-can-see with a hammer (stancing it knowing the bottom/exhaust/suspension is going to get trashed).

‘Light’ stancing I am fine with....like, say:

Kinja'd!!!

...where it’s not slizammed to the ground and with no or little negative camber...because the car is still functional and not destroying itself.

I just can’t stand the REALLY low stanced stuff with the absurd camber.

I feel you. A car that’s set up to destroy its own undercarriage is hard to justify
